Laxmi Kesavan Memorial Fund
A memorial fund in Laxmi’s name has been established by her family at the Waterloo Region Community Foundation. This fund will be used to support charitable causes in Waterloo that reflect Laxmi’s legacy of giving generously to others in the community. Gifts by Canadian residents to the Laxmi Kesavan Memorial Fund are eligible for the charitable tax credit. US residents will typically benefit from exchange rates as donation amounts are shown in Canadian currency.

H.K. Kesavan Scholarship. The H.K. Kesavan Scholarship is awarded to a first-year student in the Department of Systems Design Engineering at the University of Waterloo. Prof. Kesavan was the founding chairman of the Systems Design department in the 1960s and served on the Waterloo faculty for several decades. Gifts by Canadian residents to the H.K. Kesavan Scholarship are eligible for the charitable tax credit. Sargur N. Srihari Graduate Fellowship. This award honors H.K. and Laxmi Kesavan’s son-in-law Hari who passed away in 2022. Prof. Srihari was a computer scientist at the University at Buffalo who specialized in the areas of pattern recognition, artificial intelligence, and machine learning. (Full info at www.sargursrihari.com.) This fellowship will be awarded to a Ph.D student interested in working in artificial intelligence and machine learning. Celebration of Life Event: April 1, 2023
Laxmi’s family and friends held a memorial and celebration of life event in Mississauga, ON on Saturday, April 1, 2023. The event was held at Sampradaya Dance Creations.
